How long do programs at Eastern College take to complete?
8 months - 2 years, depending on specific programs
What programs are available to International student to qualify for immigration streams?
We have programs in Healthcare, Technology and Business that qualify for immigration streams! Visit https://www.easterncollege.ca/qualifying-areas-of-study-for-international-students/ for program details.
Can I take the programs/courses remotely?
If you are enrolled in one of the qualifying programs for the nominee programs you must be present in person and attend classes on campus. While online delivery is available for many Eastern College programs, this modality does not provide international graduates with the eligibility to apply for the aforementioned immigration pathway upon completion of their programs.
Are there internship or co-op opportunities available?
Yes, most of our programs contain an internship in your field of study as part of our program
Does Eastern College offer online or distance learning options?
Yes, we do offer many more online programs, however, international students who choose to enroll in online or distance learning option are not eligible for study permit or pathway upon graduation
What are the class schedules and formats?
Classes are partime daily in-person at the campus, 4 hours a day in morning or afternoon, 5 days a week, which allows students to maximize their training and still keep balance in their life!
What is the job placement rate for graduates?
Currently, more than 95% of our graduates are employed immediately after graduating
Is Eastern College Diploma recognized in Canada
Yes, we are designated learning institution, and our programs constantly updated and audited according to compliance and industry standards. For example, our PSW graduate will be receive CPR (HCP–Healthcare Provider Level / BLS-Basic Life Support)/First Aid National Association of Career Colleges Certificate for Personal Support Workers/Gentle Persuasive Approach Certificate, which are industry-wide recognized
What types of certifications or qualifications will I receive upon graduation?
Two-year diploma or One-year certificate, depends on the program of your choice

What is a PAL?
PAL is the Provincial Attestation Letter. Once you submit required program documents during the application process, Eastern College will request a PAL on your behalf from the Provincial Government. when it is granted, Eastern College will send it to you, as you will need this to apply for your Study Permit in Canada. Processing time for a PAL is approximately 1-3 days
What Documents are required for my application?
There are several documnets that required, including: valid Passport (expiring at least 90 days after your program ends), your highest level achieved in Education (ie highs school diploma and transcript), a WES Evaluation (If applicable), English Proficiency test(If applicable), plus any program specific documents. What is the admission requirements for those already in Canada with a study permit?
You an apply for our programs if your study permit is valid for up to 90 after the end date of the program. If it expires before then, you will have to request an extension. As of November 1st, you will also have to apply for a PAL if you transfer from a different institution or take a different program. See Process to apply.
Can one change program upon arrival?
No
How much for proof of funds is required?
The IRCC has issued that $20,635.00 Canadian Dollars plus your tuition fee required of proof of funds
What is required for the deposit?
o For all programs, the a deposit of the first year's tuition is required. The exception is the Continuing Care Assistant program in Nova Scotia - the deposit is half of the total tuition amount.
What are the IELTS/English test requirements?

As an international student that is already in Canada, do you still need to submit proof of funds to the institution?
Yes
How long does it take to complete the entire applications with the PAL and getting positive decision from the college and the study permit from IRCC ?
The PAL request can take up to 3 business days. The Eastern college acceptance process is dependant on application, but usually between 5-7 business days. Your online application for a study permit on average can take 6-8 weeks
What is the exact process to apply?
Can I apply for college on visitor visa or permit?
No, you will need to apply for your study permit

How do I apply for study permit
Once you receive your PAL and your acceptance from Easter college, you have to apply for your study permit online here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit.html
If I wish to transfer from a different school, can you change my DLI# for me?

How can I make the tuition payment?
We accept Flywire or credit card as part of the process - directions are given online when you apply
Do you have scholarships for international students?
Eastern College has some scholarships to award to students, however they are not specific to international students
Am I eligible for free PSW and CCA funding
The free PSW or CCA funding is only offered at this time to domestic students and not to International studets
Can I apply without related work experience?
Yes, work experience is not a mandatory requirement for our programs
I paid application fee, and haven't heard back
Please be advised that it might take up to 5 business days to assign your case to an EC, who will reach out to you and help you with next steps.
Can I visit the campus before enrolling?
There are open houses at our campuses
If a program start is delayed, does the student need to change their PAL or update IRCC?
You may need to apply for an extension to your study permit in order that it does not expire during the program.

Can one come into this program for study with a child dependent? Can children go to public school for free?

How can I find housing in Canada?
Once you are enrolled, we have a student webpage with a list of resources and an International Student Services Coordinator dedicated to helping our International Students
What support services are available to students?
During your time with us, we have a whole student webpage dedicated to resources, 24/7 mental health assistance, health insurance etc. If you cannot find what you are looking for on our student website, we have a dedicated International Student Services coordinator who will be able to assist you. We also have a whole team of Employment Specialists who assist students during their internship, resume and internview preparation and finally job searching so that by the time you graduate you are set up for success!
Are there housing options available for students?
No, however, we do provide information related to off-campus housing resources, or recommendations for local accommodations.

Can I work while attending Eastern College?
Yes, but according to IRCC guidelines, International students are not allowed to work more than 20 hrs. a week.
