Eastern College Announces New Bursary for Unemployed Canadians

Halifax, NS – Eastern College announced the launch of a new bursary to help individuals who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Canadians who have become recently unemployed may qualify for the COVID Emergency Relief Bursary which provides up to $1,500 towards their tuition.

“A large number of Canadians are now thinking about new career options due to unemployment and job uncertainty caused by COVID-19” said Stuart Bentley, President, Eastern College. “We want to help people in the many sectors of our economy who have been impacted start to train for their new careers. Our COVID Emergency Relief Bursary offers financial assistance so individuals can begin training right away for new careers in growing fields.”

The new bursary will replace the 3 bursaries (Retail Bursary, Manufacturing Bursary, and Restaurant and Hospitality Bursary), previously announced on April 27th, while retaining all of the same benefits, including an extension until October 31, 2020. The new bursary provides savings to new students of up to $1,500 based on the length of the program and is available for all programs greater than 25 weeks.
