WINNIPEG – Eastern College is excited to announce the launch of an innovative online Pharmacy Technician Bridging program in Manitoba. This program is designed for Pharmacy Assistants in Manitoba looking to elevate their careers in the field of pharmacy practice. This program offers a flexible and accessible path for students to gain the skills necessary for employment as registered Pharmacy Technicians in both community and hospital pharmacies across the province. Students will study online while they apply what they have learned in their current workplaces.
“We’re proud to introduce this program in Manitoba, providing Pharmacy Assistants with a valuable opportunity to advance their careers,” said Eastern College President Stuart Bentley. “By combining online learning with practical training in their current workplaces, students will be able to balance their studies with their professional and personal commitments, all while enhancing their expertise.”
The program’s comprehensive curriculum covers both the technical and administrative aspects of the Pharmacy Technician profession, including device training, inventory management, compounding, and prescription preparation and checking. In addition, the program provides training in communication skills and professionalism, and federal laws and regulations. Graduates will have met the academic qualifications needed to pursue licensure as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional steps, such as passing the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) exams, completing a postgrad structured practical experience program, or passing Manitoba’s jurisprudence exam, may be required for full licensure in the province.
